The first thing to catch my eye when I walk into The Geek House’s conference room is the fiery wall panel — a scene inspired from Game of Thrones — of Daenerys Targaryen with one of her dragons. The co-founders, Harish S. Guru and Priyadharshini V., can’t stop talking about it.

The Geek House, that’s dedicated to fans of comics, super heroes, TV shows and movies, focuses on collectibles. This includes wall art, key chains and figurines. The founders are passionate about their work, being self-proclaimed geeks themselves. Harish feels that the audience is now ready for products such as theirs. Crediting shows such as The Big Bang Theory for the popularity of geek culture, he says, “I would love to have my room look like the sets in the show.”

Their background in social media marketing and advertising helped them develop a vision for an online product service. “When we found a way to directly bring sales, we thought, why not have a product of our own that we can make money off?” says Priyadharshini. Harish adds, “We wanted a platform where we were free to experiment.”

And it worked. They sold out their initial inventory. However, Harish emphasises that The Geek House is not all about profits; they concentrate on customer satisfaction and feedback. Most of their products are made of solid metals with fine detailing. To decide what items to import, they “sat down with a 100 Dragon Ball Z collectibles and picked four that would look good”. Priyadharshini adds, “We have friends with great taste, so they were our test market.” Additionally, The Geek House is the only company in India selling wall art of its kind — five panel sets of thermolaminated canvas, depicting vivid imagery from favourites such as Game of Thrones , Marvel and DC.

Priyadharshini says that they’re looking to go big this year, while maintaining the fun factor. Harish explains, “We want to bring masks, shields, Thor’s hammer and more that you can wear to Comic Con. We’re planning to launch them later this year.”

As for their own favourite collectibles, they both declare their love for the Iron Man Arc Reactor. For details, visit https://www.thegeekhouse.in
