The chill has, yet again, made lives difficult for people and proved fatal for many animals. People for Animals, an NGO run by the Union Cabinet Minister Maneka Gandhi, took up the initiative of raising funds for the aid of such helpless creatures by hosting a musical concert, ‘Music Cravings’, in the Capital. Held at the Siri Fort auditorium, the evening saw electrifying performances by the musical duo Sachin-Jigar and the very talented Karma Band.

“Animals are an integral part of our lives. PFA has taken a pledge to protect and care for them, and create a safe environment where they are not exploited. PFA joined hands with Karma Band and Sachin-Jigar duo. The proceeds of this show will go towards providing better facilities at our shelters to protect these animals from harsh winters,” said Gandhi. With 36 hospitals-cum-shelters and over 200 units all over India, PFA aims at making shelter-cum-hospitals in each district.

The renowned musical duo comprising Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya was seen supporting this noble cause with its power packed Bollywood chartbusters. Having created music for movies like Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Himmatwala, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and many more, they said that they were looking forward to playing for Delhi. “We know the Mumbai crowd like the back of our hands and it is home but playing in Delhi is a different sort of fun. Using music to spread such a noble message is a true honour and I believe everybody should follow their hearts and work towards what really interests them. We came out of a serious academic background and followed our passion. Now, supporting PFA with our passion is a great accomplishment for us,” said Sanghvi.

Warming up the audience in the biting cold with songs like ‘Rock On’ and ‘Summer of 69’, the Karma Band also played a Punjabi number ‘Jugni Ji’. With Nikhil on the keyboard, Brennon on the base guitarVishal on the drums, Sunny on the lead guitar and Prateek and Vaishali as the vocalists, Karma gave a perfect beginning to the evening. “Coming forward for such a cause is a great thing. We played what the audiences wanted and it was super fun. In India, Bollywood is the hub and the platform for all musicians but I believe it is time we appreciated the independent musicians too. We have amazing talent in this country, especially in the small towns, and we should start looking at the non-commercialized aspect of it,” said Prateek.

The melodious evening, hopefully, will resonate with the right tunes to help the vulnerable and unprotected animals.
