The Boardwalkers are back with another hilarious comedy An Idiot for Dinner , which was first performed in 2009.

An Idiot for Dinner is an all-out comedy and is the stage adaptation of the French film Le Diner de Cons . The play, adapted for an Indian audience, tells the story of Kelavkar, who along with a group of friends, invites idiots for a monthly dinner; each of the friends has to bring an idiot for that special dinner and the person who brings the biggest idiot for the dinner is the winner of a big pot of money.

The play begins with Kelavkar who is desperately on the lookout for the perfect Idiot. With the help of a few friends he chances upon Golden Gopu, an avid matchstick model maker and probably the biggest idiot ever to be invited for the game. Kelavkar is delighted because he is certain that he is going to win the evening’s pot of money. However, in his enthusiasm, while practising a golf swing, he sprains his back and is unable to go for the dinner. In the meanwhile, Golden Gopu arrives at the Kelavkar’s residence, all ready for the dinner, and the evening slowly disintegrates into complete disaster.

Directed by Michael Muthu, the play features seasoned theatre actor Sarvesh Sridhar as the bumbling and loveable idiot Golden Gopu. Kelavkar is played by Lasalle-trained actor Gokul Anand. The play also features Amit Singh, Vidyuth Gargi, Thrisha Shetty, Abhishek, and Suhaan Appaswamy.

An Idiot for Dinner will play for two days at the Museum Theatre, on May 16 and 17 at 7.15 p.m. The play will run for 90 minutes.
