RTA Chishti Kapur organises a “Sari Workshop” at Amethyst on October 8
Drapes of elegance
Amethyst hosts a “Sari Workshop” by RTA Chishti Kapur. Kapur will share her knowledge from her research and documentation of the rich textile heritage of India since 1980. She started the Sari School in 2009. This school has been set up to promote the use, understanding, survival and re-invention of the unstitched garment. She initiated Taanbaan in 2010 which offers a variety of indigenous organic cotton and silk varieties, using hand spun yarns on the traditional spinning wheel and low twist silks woven on handlooms.
The workshop will take place in Amethyst (entrance, next to Corporation Bank, Whites Road, Royapettah) on October 8, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. There will also be an exhibition showcasing select saris, dupattas and scarves in silk and cotton.
