The Ashwini Charitable Trust (ACT) is a registered NGO that educates and empowers underprivileged children from slums in and around the Ulsoor area in Bengaluru and supports them till they are gainfully employed.

The 14-year-old organisation currently supports 305 children from over 120 families.

ACT helps by paying the children’s fees in Government -aided schools and mainstream colleges, providing educational support which incorporates study and computer skills, conducting Life Skills classes, counselling children and preparing them for life in mainstream society, identifying the children’s dominant intelligence so that they get a job that is closely related to their strength. They also provide free vaccines against life threatening diseases like MMR, Hepatitis B, and Typhoid. ACT conducts hobby classes in dance, drama, music and art with the help of special faculty. They also constantly look for volunteers who can pitch in with their time and resources for any of these programmes.

This year ACT has published calendars featuring Warli art made by these slum children they support. When you donate Rs. 1,000 to the organisation, ACT gives you four calendars for 2015 as a token of their appreciation.
