What happens when one superhero is quizzed about another? Shah Rukh Khan recently was asked about his Ra.One vis-à-vis Hollywood superheroes, and he admitted there was no match. On this week’s episode of Front Row With Anupama Chopra, SRK said a superhero that flies down and saves thousands of lives was fantastic for the average Indian. “Our fantasies are still limited to buying a good house, a good car and having a regular job,” he explained. When asked which was his favourite superhero character from Hollywood, he promptly replied Batman, adding in true SRK style: “…if it doesn’t sound strange, I would marry him if I got a chance. I love Batman.”
Friends or foes?
Talking of SRK, his popularity can hardly be contested. Guess who went to his doors to publicise his film? Shirish Kunder! Shirish’s upcoming film Joker starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha has some aliens playing a sizeable part. The director got them down on the streets of Mumbai to music composer Anu Malik’s home on the street-side shoppers’ paradise Linking Road and even at the gates of Mannat, Shah Rukh’s palatial residence. In this case, we suppose slap or no slap, Shirish does not believe in ‘alienating’ himself from free publicity!
That’s the name Twitter has earned. After it became public that Madhuri Dixit asked Mumbai’s municipal authorities to grant her land for building a dance academy, model-turned-actor Bhairavi Goswami tweeted against the Corporation’s decision to offer the dancing diva a choice of 100 lands. “In that case, why can’t super models get free land to start grooming academy to teach English, to train ordinary girls become models?” Some bone of contention that.
