There’s a new music director on the block – Charu Hariharan. Charu, daughter of Carnatic vocalist and playback singer B. Arundhati, will be composing the music for Pandayam, a feature film by Kiran Ravindran. “I am composing the music for the two songs in Pandayam . While one is a romantic melody, the other is a theme song which captures the feel of the movie. Both have a Western flavour to them,” says Charu.

Her brother Sreekanth will be rendering the romantic melody. Sreekanth, Charu and their mother will be singing the theme song together. “It will be the first time, my mother, brother and I work together.”

The young musician is currently working on a solo album, which will contain a collage of music genres. “I have completed two songs in the album. One is a Tamil melody and the other is a song set to a Hindustani raag. The album, titled Attempt will be out by the end of the year.”
