Bharath Reddy

Bharath Reddy

It is not just heroines, even male actors from neighboring states are invading the Tamil film industry as well. Bharath Reddy who has over 40 Telugu films to his credit is playing a police officer in Ragalapuram . He was earlier seen in Tamil films such as Unnaipol Oruvan, Payanam and Mallukattu . “I am busy doing some interesting roles — with Udhayanidhi Stalin in director S. R. Prabhakaran’s Ithu Kathirvelan Kathal and in films of director Kannan ( Settai ) and producer Kanal Kannan. After these, my aim is to progress to lead roles. I am on the lookout for appropriate scripts and producers,” says Bharath who is a medical practitioner in real life. Besides, Bharath is doing a Kannada film — director Om Prakash Rao’s Ayya 2 .

Busy year for Srikanth

He is surely not in the rat race, being very choosy about his movies. After playing one of the three main roles in director Shankar’s Nanban and acting in films such as Paagan , Srikanth took up Nambiar , directed by Ganesha. Srikanth and Santhanam are reportedly a riot in Nambiar . “An interesting aspect is a song sung by Santhanam which is picturised on me!” informs Srikanth, whose co-star is Sunaina. Now that the film is nearing completion, Srikanth is preparing to do the lead in the Tamil remake of the Telugu super hit, Swamy Ra Ra . “My production house Golden Friday Films has bought the Tamil and Malayalam rights for this film and we are in the process of finalising the cast and crew. Meanwhile, I have some more portions of Om Shanti Om to be completed. It has been a busy year and I am excited that these films are all shaping up well,” says Srikanth.

Goundamani returns

A few years ago, there was not a single film without the comic duo Senthil and Goundamani. Such was the magic of the Laurel-Hardy pair. Now, after a long hiatus, one of the duo returns to the silver screen. A rather stylishly attired Goundamani will be seen in director A. Senthil Kumar’s Vaaimai in which Shantanu and Bhanu play the lead. “ Vaaimai is a humorous film based on certain ideologies. Goundamani plays Dr. Benny, an important character. You will see shades of the original comedian he was known for, but more importantly, the character he plays in Vaaimai will give him a different image. Probably that is the reason he accepted the role. That he has not committed himself to any other film till this is finished shows his commitment,” says Senthil who is also directing Vijay Antony in another film, Thirudan .
