Music director A.R. Rahman has taken up a new role — as scriptwriter. And, the music director is thrilled because both the scripts he wrote have found takers. “The scripts have been accepted by two Hindi film producers; I am not going to direct these movies. I will score the music for these films, which will be Hindi-Tamil bilinguals. The casting is on for the films; they might be ready for release next year,” says Rahman.

Role reprisal

K. Balachander’s Thillu Mullu , featuring Rajinikanth was a laugh riot. The film will be remade as Thillu Mullu 2 , with Siva and Isha Talwar in the lead and Prakash Raj in an important role. The original had Kamal Haasan in a cameo, and a lot of people were curious about who would reprise that role in the remake. And, the cat’s out of the bag now. It will be Santhanam! So, laugh riot, part 2?

Funny side up

Hansika is excited about her upcoming film Theeyaa Velai Seiyyanum Kumaaru , featuring Siddharth and Santhanam. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures and directed by Sunder C., the film is said to be a comedy. Hansika says, “Everyone was laughing during the shoot, particularly during scenes involving me and Santhanam. My chemistry with Siddharth too has come in for much praise. I can’t wait to watch the film!”

On a roll

Now that his Thalaiva is over, actor Vijay is getting ready for his next film — Super Good Films’ Jilla , which will see actor Jiiva too play an important role. The buzz is that, after Jilla , Vijay will team up with director M. Rajesh of Siva Manasula Sakthi fame, and not with A.R. Murugadoss as assumed earlier. Rajesh who’s giving finishing touches to his All In All Azhaghu Raja , featuring Karthi is said to be excited with this development. Interestingly, it will be Karthi who’ll team up with Murugadoss for the film that Vijay was not able to do.
