A still from the film Haridass

A still from the film Haridass

Fortune seems to have favoured director GNR Kumaravelan and his unit, now busy shooting Haridas. The director, his lead actors and his cameraman Randy had a close shave recently when the boat they were in capsized near Dhanushkodi.

A shaken Kumaravelan says: “I wanted to shoot in Dhanushkodi where I had shot for my earlier film Ninaithale Innikkum. I had spotted a few lovely places for my then but had been unable to shoot. The place we were shooting at was a temporary island created during low tide. We were shooting on a dune when water suddenly started rising. When we completed our portion and boarded our boat, the water level had risen considerably, and we had to take a different route to reach the main land. The water was choppy and our boat capsized. I don’t know swimming, but somehow managed to hold one end of the capsized boat and stay afloat. With my other hand, I grabbed Prithiviraj, the 11-year-old boy who plays the lead. He was rattled. Randy and Kishore knew swimming. Luckily, fishermen in other boats nearby came to our rescue. They jumped in and pulled us out of the water. I am still shaking. Thankfully, we had finished Sneha’s portions and sent her away.”

Taapsee signs off

Looks like actor Taapsee is no longer a part of Sundar C-directed film that now stars Varalakshmi and Vishal in the lead. Through a tweet, she claimed she had moved out of the film due to date issues and sources in the unit too confirmed she was no longer a part of the project. Her tweet says: “Unable to allocate all the required dates for the Sundar C- Vishal project because of three other movies on floor and Chashmebaddoor promotions. So, won’t be doing the movie. I wish the whole team luck and really hope I get to work with them soon.”
