Jayasurya himself admits that he’s not the best of singers. That did not stop him from acing the music charts with his quirky debut number ‘Aashichavan…’ from the film Punyalan Agarbathis . Now, the “reluctant singer” is back behind the microphone once again, this time crooning a number for Boban Samuel’s new film Happy Journey .

“Singing ‘Aashichavan…’ has given me a confidence boost about what I deemed to be my non-existent singing skills! I was pleasantly surprised when the song, which I had sung on a lark, was accepted. Just the other day Innocent chettan rang me up to tell me that his local church band played the song. A friend’s daughter made a video of her singing the song and sent it to me. It’s these little things that give me joy. I hope to emulate that success with this song too,” says Jayasurya.

The song, as yet untitled, has music direction by Gopi Sundar. Happy Journey , has Jayasurya playing the protagonist, a visually-challenged young cricketer named Aaron from Fort Kochi. Aaron's ambition is to play for the Indian cricket team for the visually challenged. The film, set to be released on February 20, is inspired by the real life story of a member of the national team.
