A year after she made her debut in the Telugu film Alias Janaki , Vizag girl Anisha Ambrose is set for her next big release in Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh 2 . The actress is on cloud nine as she eagerly waits for the film to hit the theatres next month.

Ahead of her next film release, Anisha Ambrose chats with MetroPlus about her journey in the film world.

The film journey

It was the “most unexpected moment” of Anisha’s life when one day she was offered to audition for a film.

Working with a software firm in Hyderabad and with no prior experience in modelling or acting, the call for the audition itself was a big surprise for her.

“I never thought I would be an actor. I did it just out of curiosity not at all expecting to be selected,” says the actor, who hails from the port city and completed her MBA in Banking and Finance from GITAM.

Even her selection for the auditions of her first film was by a strange stroke of luck. The makers of the film saw her pictures posted by her photographer friend on Facebook and that’s how she landed up getting the call for audition and eventually bagging the role.

The shift to the film world wasn’t an easy choice for her. “Initially my whole family was apprehensive and sceptical whether I was making a right choice in joining films. But finally it was my father who felt that I should give films a try,” says Anisha.

She is looking forward to her next film Gabbar Singh 2 , a love story laced with loads of action. Directed by ‘Power’ fame Bobby and produced by Sharat Marar, the film is neither a prequel nor a sequel to Gabbar Singh and is expected to go on floors a day before Ugadi.

The year will also see her make an entry in to the Kannada film industry in an untitled film that is set for release in summer this year.

Mentors

Her close bonding with her parents is what Anisha describes as her strength in life. Speaking about her inspiration in the film world, the actor says, “A lot of people have inspired me in different ways. But if there is one actor whom I have really admired since my childhood is Mr Amitabh Bachchan.”

And in the current crop of actors in the film industry, Anisha admires Sonam Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra for their unconventional dressing style. “They can carry both Indian and western styles with great élan,” she adds.

Anisha feels that the most important qualities that a budding actor must have is self-confidence, spontaneity and the willingness to learn. And these are the qualities that she has helped her in coming this far, she says.

A foodie, Anisha makes sure that her diet also consists of fresh vegetables and fruit juices. “I am also passionate about cooking and keep trying new recipes.

As far as exercise goes, I try and get at least an hour’s workout at the gym on a daily basis,” says the actor.

Coming from a family of educationists, it is not surprising to hear about her love for teaching.

And the side of her that not many know about is that the actor also has a passion for singing.
