The engine is the Santa Fe's biggest surprise and the power delivery is truly astounding.

Hyundai launched its Santa Fe SUV recently in New Delhi. The 2.2-litre CRDi engine of the Santa Fe produces 194bhp at 4000rpm and peak torque of 42.9kgm at 1800-2500rpm.

In side profile, the Santa Fe shows its size and hints of good interior space. It is a class bigger than other soft-roaders in the Indian market with a wider shoulder line and larger rear overhangs. The SUV is 4660mm long. The rounded styling theme continues down the side and to the rear as well. The rear glass section also sports a very rounded look and the way the rear lights jut out of the body work is a nice stylistic detail.

The engine is the Santa Fe's biggest surprise and the power delivery is truly astounding. Hyundai offers this motor in three states of tune, from 150bhp all the way to 194bhp on the top-of-the-line R-engine. Surprisingly, it is the more powerful top end engine that Hyundai is bringing to India.

Hyundai will sell the Santa Fe with both 2WD and 4WD options. The Korean company will bring the SUV as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). The Santa Fe 2WD variant is priced at Rs. 20.95 lakh and the 4WD variant costs Rs. 22.95 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi.
