Bilingual thriller
Thrillers are all the rage in the Kannada film industry and here’s on more in the offing. And what’s more, this time it’s a bilingual in Kannada and Telugu -- called Avadhi in Kannada and Kathanam in Telugu. the film traces the story of an actor who makes a mistake and tries hard to wriggle out of the situation. It’s been shot in over 45 days in forest areas around Coorg, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Goa. The film stars Ranjith, who plays triple roles -- that of a student, a blind man, and a common man. Archana Rao, the female lead, has acted in Kannada films such as Mandya Star, Mast Mohabbat and Swarga to Naraka. The film has been directed and produced by Sai Kiran Mukkamala. While the Telugu version got a headstart and got stuck later, the Kannada version took shape along the way. The film is finally set to release in September.
Birthday bash
Here’s one film for adrenaline junkies to look forward to -- releasing this Friday is Happy Birthday , a film high on action and chase sequences, fights and high drama. So the phrase “birthday bash” might just take on new meanings, what with all the fight sequences! Tollywood action choreographers Ram Lakshman, stuntsmen Ravi Verma, Jolly Bastian and Thriller Manju have all pitched in their efforts and skills to give young viewers a kick. Directed by K Mahesh Sukhadhare, the film star newcomers Sachin and Samskruthy Shenoy. Of course there is romance going by the trailer, and a large comedy track with the likes of Chikkanna, and Sadhu Kokila on board. Mahesh, who’s made films like Sambhrama, Sainika and Ambareesha , promises that the film will be just the right mix of everything the viewer wants.
Suhasini as Shivanna’s sister?
You wouldn’t have missed the stark poster of Tagaru , starring Shivarajkumar -- where Shivanna symbolically sports the horns of a ram, being a gangster. Manvitha Harish stars opposite Shivanna. The film’s shooting has just been launched this past weekend and shooting begins in full swing in September. Directed by Duniya Suri, there’s also much excitement that Suri is in talks with veteran actress Suhasini Maniratnam to play Shivanna’s sister. Suhasini is quite the darling of the Kannada cinema industry, with phenomenal roles in films like Benkiyalli Aralida Hoovu, Suprabhata, Bandhana, Muthina Haara, Amruthavarshini . This is Suri’s second film with Shivanna after Kaddipudi . Charan Raj is scoring music for the film. Shooting schedules are apparently going to be distributed in areas around Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Belagavi and Mysuru.
