Ramkumar, whose album ‘Fusion Rocks' was launched released, has deftly managed his passion for music and IT profession for the past two decades.
He took to playing the mridangam at age six and went on to train under ghatam maestro Vikku Vinayakaram. He also started accompanying his guru at cutcheris. Not just performing, Ramkumar was also keen to compose and came up with an album ‘Cascade'.
With encouragement from the family, he pursued his passion. He began playing the keyboard even while honing his compositional skills. “I love the idea of experimenting with genres and the challenges it throws up,” says this IT professional-cum-musician, who came up with an album 'Fusion Captivated' in 2009.
After this album, he was enthused to work on his next release in a big way. “I used to sit in front of the keyboard for hours together on weekends. I wanted to work with a good team of musicians. And as luck would have it, Jude Antony has done the music arrangements, Ananthu shares the vocal, Kamalakar plays the flute, Martin Vijay plays the trumpet and trombone, and Manikantan the bass guitar. And to top it all, well-known veena artiste Rajhesh Vaidya and mridangist Embar Kannan have lent their expertise to this album,” says Ramkumar.
