For Ratakonda Srivatsa, the young tennis player from Hyderabad, it was a golden start to New Year when he was a member of the Indian team which won the gold in the Asian junior tennis championship in Doha where they defeated Yemen in the finals. The other members of the Indian team were Himanshu Mor, Siddhant Banthia and Megh Bhargav Patel.

Ratakonda Srivatsa is from Ace Tennis Academy run by APLTA official Praveen Bhargava as coach. Srivatsa is rated as one of the most promising young players who can go the distance if only he continues to show the commitment, dedication and hard work, according to critics.

For the record, India defeated Nepal, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar A in the round-robin league in which 10 countries too part. Nepal settled for bronze.
