Madhushree Narayan, daughter of musician Ramesh Narayan, is elated about bagging the first prize in Super Star Junior on Amrita TV
Madhushree Narayan has been listening to music ever since she could remember. The youngest daughter of Hindustani musician and composer Ramesh Narayan, Madhushree is on cloud nine ever since she was crowned as winner of the second season of Superstar Junior, a music reality show for children on Amrita TV.
“This is very special because it was the first time that I was taking part in a reality show. I like reality shows and when I told my father, he had no problem about it. He told me that no matter what the result would be, participation was what mattered. And he is right. I learnt a lot from the show. I could learn songs of different genres for the show and I think I have become more confident as a singer. I think my stage fear has reduced a bit,” says Madhushree, a class nine student of Saraswathi Vidyalaya.
Being the daughter of an established musician, the pressure to perform well was always there, she says. “Yes, my father was always around to encourage and guide me,” she adds.
A huge fan of Western music, Madhushree is happy that she was able to perform Western numbers on the show. “Last year during our trip to the United States, I learnt the basics of opera singing. In the final of Super Star Junior, I sang Christina Aguilera’s ‘The voice within’. She is among my favourite singers,” says Madhushree.
Even as a toddler, she used to sit with her father during his concerts and therefore it was a natural process for her to take to music, like her elder sister Madhuvanti Narayan. Madhushree has sung in devotional albums composed by her father. She has sung the track for many of her father’s film songs and is making her playback debut under her father with a solo in Edavappathi.
