The battle for the eyeballs on television is never ending. It forces the channels to revamp themselves and introduce new serials every few weeks. To keep its novelty intact LifeOK is starting a new serial this Monday called Dream Girl . Though the name of the serial seems inspired from a hit song of yesteryears, the serial is about the new middle class. It is about people coming from small towns to big cities and dreaming big.

The show stars Nikita Dutta, a Miss India finalist in the lead role opposite Mohsin Khan, a young man who has done a cameo in Meri Ashiqui and then a more central role in Nisha Aur Uske Cousins .

In Dream Girl Nikita a girl from a small town Jodhpur, dreams of becoming a famous actor, and the story portrays Nikita as Lakshmi’s chasing her dreams that come at a cost and teaches her valuable lessons that go on to make her stronger and resilient. Says Nikita, “I am making my television debut with Dream Girl and hence this role is very important for me. The uniqueness of my character prompted me to take up this show, how she cuts corners to get her work done and she has a solution to every problem. It was indeed a tough pick for me.”

About their third show on the channel producers, Shashi-Sumeet Mittal say, “ Dream Girl is a story about dreams and aspirations that every girl like Lakshmi beholds and who has a head full of Bollywood dreams. Lakshmi’s unflagging optimism brings the feel-good factor to the show and we are hopeful that young girls across the country will be able to relate with her character.”

The male lead Mohsin Khan aka Samar Sareen is shown to be Bollywood’s most promising new face and Lakshmi’s dream co-star, with whom she wants to launch her career. “I get to play two different characters in the show, one of a nonchalant Raj, a samosa vendor and other of a high profile Bollywood actor. I had to juggle and get into the shoes of two different personalities in order to justify the characters I play. Both Raj and Samar are full of energy and positive attitude. It is a beautiful love story, its for the whole family. We have two parallel stories in every episode what makes our show different.”

Dream Girl starts today. To be aired 9th March every Monday to Friday at 9.30 pm on LifeOK.
