Anyone who has watched even half an episode of Grey’s Anatomy will know that Dr. Miranda Bailey is the resident Nazi at Seattle Grace Hospital, with no patience for nonsense and a work ethic that’s top notch.
But as episodes progress and seasons change, we find that Dr. Bailey is only trying to be a good doctor, a great mother, keep her life together and an eye out for everyone. Are you like Miranda Bailey?
We are only alike in our work ethic. We care deeply about our work and how well we perform our jobs.
Do you relate to her?
Yes, I relate to her being a professional woman as well as a mother, and trying to do her best at both tasks.
What do you like about Miranda? What don’t you like about her?
I like that she tries every day to be the best doctor that she can be. I don't like the flashy shoes she wears. They are not very comfortable.
Has the role typecast you in anyway? Does it limit you?
I get offered different types of roles that are not like Miranda Bailey, so I don't feel typecast by this great opportunity that I have had to play this role.
How was the experience of directing episodes of Grey's Anatomy?
Directing Grey's Anatomy has been an unexpected new direction in my professional life. It has given me greater understanding of what it takes to put together a good show, and deepened my respect for the drama series process.
Would you be directing any more episodes?
I have directed seven episodes of Grey's Anatomy over the last four seasons, and will continue to say yes each time I am asked.
