Breaking away from the conventional daily soaps on television dealing with honour killings, widow marriage, child marriage, Imagine TV has come out with BAG Films' Looteri Dulhan which is the story of a con bahu, for whom, marriage is a means of making money. To promote the serial that will hit the small screens on March 28 (Monday to Saturday 9:30 p.m.), its cast comprising Krishna Gokani — who features in the lead role — along with Yajuvendra Singh, Smita Singh, Bharti Khandare and Sitaram Panchal recently came to New Delhi. To give a sense of the serial, the cast even performed a skit showing a bride absconding on her wedding night with all the valuables. The refreshing plot revolves around one Singh family which cons rich old men who desire to marry young girls.

Saurabh Tiwari, Head, Programming (fiction), Imagine TV, stated “The show is inspired by true life incidents. During our research we came to know that there are seven-eight gangs in Haryana and Rajasthan whose work is to dupe grooms and run away with all their money after the marriage and police is looking for them. The audiences yearn for a good family entertainer. Looteri Dulhan is the one that they can watch together. It's a family drama but the overall treatment is very dramatic and light-hearted. The plot may be inspired by real-life incidents, but the premise of the show is fictitious.” Talking about the actors on board, Saurabh said, “We have cast mostly the theatre actors because I believe that now the time has come to cast those actors who are not completely used by the industry.”

Elaborating on her character, Gokani says, “I am playing the role of Billo, who uses her charm to con and loot the oldies. I don't categorise this character as negative because as you go through the show you will find that Billo is a victim of circumstances. My character will showcase the psyche of a girl who has already married so many men and has lost interest in getting married for herself.”

Smita Singh popularly known as Punpunwali of serial Bhagyavidhaata will play yet another challenging role. She is essaying the role of Billo's bhabhi whereas Yajuvendra Singh is playing the meaty character of Angrez Singh, who is the brother of the con bride. Actor Sitaram Panchal who was seen in the acclaimed movie Peepli Live is playing the father of the girl.
