After her stints in “Big Boss” and “Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa”, Monica Bedi is back to the reality showbiz. Currently shooting in a village near Mohali for “Desi Girl”, a unique reality show coming up on NDTV Imagine, which will see eight of India's glamour girls engage in everyday tasks of villagers, she talks to us about why she likes reality shows and her long absence from the silver-screen.

What made you choose “Desi Girl”?

I was born in Punjab but I was brought up abroad. I have often heard from my father, a die-hard Punjabi, about life in Punjab, its lovely villages and clean-hearted people. So when ‘Desi Girl' came along I thought this would be a good opportunity to live the life that my ancestors had lived. It is exciting to live with the villagers in their houses and do things that they do, for instance, milking cows. The work is tough and challenging but I am enjoying it.

All your fellow participants on “Desi Girl” are girls. How are you getting along with them?

Fights are bound to happen, especially when there are all girls. So there are a lot of cat fights happening on the sets and there is a lot of politics going on. It's not something I like but the show is fun nonetheless.

You have done quite a few reality shows. Before ‘Desi Girl' you were seen in ‘Big Boss' and ‘Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa'. What makes you sign up for these shows?

I always get very excited when I am offered a reality show. Every show has its own unique concept and there is so much challenge! On these shows I get to do things that I have never experienced before in life. Also, reality shows are doing really well these days. They are highly watched so you also get a lot of recognition. You become a household name. Not to forget, they pay really well!

You have not been doing films for quite sometime now. What is the reason for that?

The only reason is that whatever I have come across or whatever has been offered to me has not been exciting enough so I have not taken up any film assignments lately.

Are there any movies or shows in your kitty?

Yes, I do have a movie coming up which I am rather excited about. I am also doing another reality show. But I am not allowed to talk about any of them. Right now I am just involved with ‘Desi Girl'.
