For many years young boys and girls have been ruling the roost when it comes to talent hunt on television. Almost every show throws a new teenage winner; at times even 10 year old kids are praised for their spirit and talent. Now, however, is the time for the old guard to reclaim its space.
Fathers of successful kids may just be happy patting their child on the back or embracing him/her but mothers are known to be more expressive, often breaking into jigs whenever their kids do well. Realising as much, Zee TV decided to offer women a platform to exhibit their skills through a dance competition. Now mothers can be seen on “Dance India Dance Super Mom” dancing to songs from Bollywood to hip-hop, salsa and so on.
Zee TV kicked off auditions for talented dancers across the country in different cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Raipur, Kolkata, Indore, Patna, Lucknow, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Guwahati, Jammu, Ranchi, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore. Women from the surrounding areas can come to their nearest centre for the auditions.
The Delhi round of auditions takes place on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rich Harvest Public School, Janakpuri.
Speaking about the show, Raghav Juyal, who was also known as Crockroz seen in DID season 3, said, “This show is going to be fun to watch, we will pick dancer mummies from across the country and give them dance training to hone their skills. This is a show where these mummies will get to show their talent and get exposure.”
Jyotsna Ghai, an aspiring dancer who works with a private company in Delhi, says, “I love dancing since my childhood but I was never given the freedom to take it as a profession. I learnt Kathak in my school and did a stage show. I have two daughters and my husband supports me a lot to fulfil my dreams. I love Indian dance and Madhuri Dixit and Akshay Kumar are my favourite dancers in the film industry and through this platform I hope to meet them one day.”
Sonia Batra, a housewife in Delhi who loves dancing but never got a formal training because of family restrictions, is now looking forward to fulfil her childhood dreams. So, Mummies in Delhi put on your best dancing shoes.
