Television series Mahabharat , based on the ancient Indian epic, has now been dubbed into Bengali to be released on DVD.

Produced by B R Chopra and directed by his son Ravi Chopra, the 94-episode series that originally ran from 1988 to 1990 had created history as millions remained glued to the TV sets with religious fervour running high.

Dubbed by Bengali television and film artists, the first volume of the DVD has now been released by Heart Video.

Producer Sajjan Khaitan said, “The next ten volumes of the first Bengali version of the epic serial will be launched in the next two months“.

Starring Mukesh Khanna as ‘Bhishma Pitamah’ and Nitish Bharadwaj as the Lord Krishna, it is one of India’s most successful TV series.

One of the longest epic poems in the world, Mahabharat narrates the Kurukshetra war and the fates of the Kauravas and Pandavas. The sacred Bhagavad Gita is also a part of the Mahabharata.
