Hussain Kuwajerwal, one of the most popular faces on the small screen, is all set to make his debut in B-town with the movie Shree . From taking part in telly soaps to dance shows to hosting reality shows, life has always been full of action for Hussain. And now with Bollywood entry, it looks like it will be even more packed. The affable actor, on a promotional tour to New Delhi for Shree , though says one thing he has not forgotten to take care of amidst all this is to look after his body. “There is no shortcut to health,” he says.

In the tinsel town, it is all about survival of the fittest and shortcut is never the solution to remain afloat, he underlines. “Frankly, there is never an easy way out for fitness, like in life. In today’s fast paced life, everyone is looking for shortcuts though. We see nowadays people taking these body building supplements which should be avoided.” He though cautions one from going overboard with physical exercise. “Regular and not rigorous workout along with a little control over the diet is the key. One should not overdo things.”

Hussain starts his day with a few glasses of water and a protein shake. It is followed by workout. After coming back from the gym, he makes sure he has fruits. Hussain calls himself a foodie and for food lovers, he gives a tip for diet control, something that he himself follows. “I have a very simple formula. If you are about to eat something that you like which is ridden with calories, eat something which you do not like much before it, say a salad. That way, you will end up eating lesser than what you would otherwise have eaten,” says the actor who is also seen in Zangoora, a two-hour live entertainment show at the Kingdom of Dreams.

So how does he manage such long shows? “I believe one needs to be mentally prepared for it,” he says. Also, being fit helps gain that discipline. Fitness is also about discipline. “For me, it is like brushing teeth in the morning, which, if you miss, makes you feel pathetic throughout the day and when I do not workout I feel the same about myself.”

Hussain believes that a well developed body does not necessarily mean a heavily built one. He also wants people to realize that hitting the gym is not the only way to exercise, and it can also be done in the form of yoga, dance or even martial arts. His only advice to the budding actors is to “be patient and disciplined when it comes to health as everything takes time”.
