Jaihind TV's ‘Jeevitham Ithuvare' documents the life, views and contributions of 50 prominent Keralites who have made their mark in diverse spheres. in Kerala. Pradeep Panangad, producer of the programme speaks to Friday Review about the show.
Concept
‘Jeevitham Ithuvare' is an odyssey through the lives of those people whom Kerala reveres as icons in their respective fields. The programme consciously avoids issues or controversies in the life of the interviewees and aims to be cheerful and positive, rather than fluster the guest with unwanted questions. The idea is to honour the guests.
Format
Veteran journalist K.P. Mohanan interviews the guests in a relaxed two-episode session. This gives the personalities time to speak about their lives, especially their major achievements and experiences.
The questions are meticulously prepared. There are no visuals to go along with the interview. The emphasis is on drawing out the guest's memories.
Episodes
We have selected 50 personalities for the show. We have mapped out a 100 episodes. The programme is on every weekend. So far we have covered 25 personalities.
Participants
We have made the list of personalities based on their contributions to their respective fields. For example, we featured ONV Kurup, Sugutha Kumari, Perumpadavam Sreedharan and D. Vinaya Chandran from the literary field, K.P.A.C. Lalitha, Sukumari, and Adoor Gopalakrishnan from filmdom, Kavalam Narayana Panicker from theatre, O. Rajagopal, P. Govinda Pillai, and Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, from the political sphere, C.P. Nair, J. Lalithambika, and Babu Paul from the administrative field, and Dr. Vijayaraghavan from the medical field, to name a few. We started the programme with an interview with businessman Captain Krishnan Nair of The Leela Group.
Highlights
The episode featuring singer K.P. Udayabhanu was one of our most popular so far in terms of rating, probably because of the element of music integrated into the episodes. Thus far the guests have been coming to our sets but soon we will be travelling to the guests. Episodes with M.T. Vasudevan Nair and M.G.S. Narayanan are lined up and we also hope to speak to Zachariah, Kakkanadan and Professor M. K. Sanu soon.
