This August 15, when the country celebrates its 66th year of Independence, an hour-long programme Yeh Mera India will be telecast on Animal Planet.
The month-long initiative will rejoice the country’s iconic and enchanting wildlife, and to mark the celebration, Animal Planet has also launched the Yeh Mera India anthem, a three-minute multi-lingual music video, composed and performed by music personalities such as Lesle Lewis, Shaan, Mathangi and Monali.
On the experience of working on the album, singer Mathangi, who hails from the city, says: “It was a great musical experience. The three-minute edit of the song covers three languages. While Shaan has delivered the Hindi portions, Monali has sung the Bengali bits. I have rendered the Tamil part. We recorded the song in Mumbai. The quality of a song is different when everyone associated with it is together while delivering it. The anthem is a celebration of the fauna and flora of India. Music is a great way to take any message to the masses, and this anthem too will do just that.”
About her interest in wildlife, the singer says: “I’m a huge wildlife fan myself. In fact, I was in Botswana this April and was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a double-horned rhino with her calf.”
Yeh Mera India will take viewers on an exotic journey through the country — from the Himalayan mountains, down the mighty river Ganges, and across to the North East, to explore its iconic wildlife, secret locations and epic terrains.
