The style diva, Ambika Anand, is back with another season of her popular fashion makeover show, Get the Look . With her excitement about the new season bubbling over the phone, Ambika said, “We will be delving deeper into the subject of fashion and makeovers. There will be more of the reality element with a change in the way it’s directed. You’ll definitely know it as you watch.”
The show is all about how she helps 12 young girls to have a makeover by giving them the best of makeup artists, hairstylists, beauty treatments and spa sessions.
They also get to meet some of the biggest stylists from the fashion world and gain useful tips from them, helping them to achieve the ultimate transformation.
What’s more, a lucky few might even get to feature in a magazine, walk the ramp or have a fashion photo-shoot. The previous episodes featured celebrity guests such as Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Nargis Fakhri providing useful advice on how the participants can get the look they want.
“There was this one time, last season, when one of the girls got her hair coloured for the first time, and I was taking her all around the mall to show how the lights highlight the hue differently,” Ambika recalls. Out of the numerous applicants who register for the show, how do they select the lucky 12? “We pick out girls with the most interesting stories. It would be no point choosing someone who already looks polished and wouldn’t need a makeover. So, we try to pick girls for whom the revamping will make a drastic difference.” She finds the experience incredible and gratifying as she is able to help boost the confidence of so many youngsters. The fact that it is inspiring to all those who watch the show adds to her enthusiasm.
She believes the biggest USP of the channel is that they were the first ones to talk about fashion, particularly global trends in a way that connects to the viewers. “We were the first to interview international fashion icons like Tommy Hilfiger, John Galliano (Dior), and Frida Giannini (Gucci), to name a few. In the context of presenting international fashion to an Indian audience and in giving Indian fashion a modern voice, we were definitely pathbreakers!”
