Archana Vijaya, who is anchoring the ongoing IPL Season 8 with Samir Kochchar, is excited about her role. Starting her career as a model she won Get Gorgeous Season 1 a reality show on Channel V. Later she anchored the next edition of the show and went to mentor it.

Her association with cricket started when she signed for a travel show Travel Diary on Neo cricket channel. On her first T20 match between India and Australia she recalls, “when Travel Diary got famous I did another show called Cricket Tadka Maar Ke which was a big hit. That is when I was told to host a live match and my career in cricket started. Initially I was very scared to do it but there were people who trusted me a lot which encouraged me.”

Even though, she cannot support any team, Archana cannot resist expressing it for the team from Kolkata where she was born and brought up. “The heart beats for Kolkata because that's my home town.”

Talking about her co-anchors, she says that they are a wonderful team describing Samir as amazing and supportive. “We work like a team and there are times when we watch each other's back while hosting. Many times we do mistakes but we cover up.”

On the IPL campaign “India ka tyohar”, she commented: “Some people celebrate Diwali, some don’t. Cricket is something that the entire country celebrates. So it is more of a festival than just a game.”

About avoid discussing her personal life in public, she says, “I have kept a balance between my private life and professional life although I have not anything to hide. I got married sometime back and it was in the news. So can’t help that either. It is like it comes in the parcel of being in the limelight.”
