It’s upsetting to hear that by 2050, Maldives would be submerged. This destination deserves to be preserved and marvelled at for years to come. In an impromptu plan made recently, I found myself with my sister and two other friends in the Maldives, which to me is the most spectacular piece of land in the world. I had quite an experience: swimming in the impossibly turquoise lagoons, snorkelling through mesmerising coral reefs, admiring the tropical fish that perhaps sport every colour in a crayon box. Maldives is a destination for people who wish to have some adventure and fun, moving away from the mundane work schedule and the usual partying at clubs.
Maldives offers a huge variety of adventure trips, especially water sports. As I am an absolute adrenaline junkie, this was the best thing about my trip. The first fantastic experience was scuba diving. It’s a whole different world out there. Being underwater feels like meditation as there are no distractions; it’s so calm and serene. I felt like I was part of a new world that was crazy, fun and adventurous. For those who want something less adventurous, try sailing. Hire a boat, pack some light eats and a bottle of sparkling wine.
I am a foodie and l love to experiment with all cuisines, and if you are a fan of sea food, then you’re at the right place. The most popular curry is mas riha cooked with tuna. I tried some of the dishes and I couldn’t stop licking my fingers.
If I had to choose my favourite island in the Maldives, I would pick Iru Fushi. It is one of the best for water sports and there are plenty of options for accommodation. Choose anything that best suits your budget. Every little corner of Maldives has something spectacular to offer and it comes with a view you have never seen before. And most importantly, disconnect — leave technology behind.
