After trailer launches, here’s a team that turned a poster-sticking event into a party. The entire cast of Yagavarayinum Naa Kakka had gathered at actor-producer Aadhi’s house recently to celebrate the launch of the film’s posters. The team got along famously during shooting; we were almost like family, says Aadhi.
They got to hear around midnight that the uniquely-designed posters were being stuck near T. Nagar. Aadhi, heroine Nikitha Galrani and Harish Uthaman, among others, piled into cars and headed to Valluvar Kottam, T. Nagar and Nungambakkam. They worked with the ground team and helped paste about 30 posters.
It was hard work, says Aadhi, who is producing the film under the Aadarsha Chitralaya banner. The name is a throwback to his grandfather’s theatre group in Rajahmundry. “Sticking the posters meant a lot, as it is our maiden production and the poster bears the name of my brother Sathya Prabhas Pinisetty, the film’s director,” he says. He also learnt the hard work that goes into sticking posters, he said. “Each big poster comes in so many parts. Aligning it is such a task!”
Finally, at around 3 a.m., the team wound up, tired, and reeking of adhesive paste, but very satisfied. They went back to the office, and partied till it was time to see the poster in the newspapers. “We slept, peacefully, knowing we’d done something nice,” says Aadhi.
It was not long ago that another Kollywood personality actually went around to get ‘down and dirty’ to promote his film. Unable to compete with big banners, director Mysskin recently went around town sticking his film Onaiyum Aatukuttiyum ’s posters to promote it. The filmmaker took his movie poster tour to Coimbatore, Trichy, Salem and Madurai.
