How do you feel to be in India?

I am very excited to be here and I would like to check out a few places if time permits. Hope our Indian fans will remember this show forever. I have found a lot of people from India as fans in our social networking pages and I have seen lot of comments. I have not heard any Indian metal band yet, but am looking forward to hearing some.

Who was your influence in your childhood? And tell us about your career.

I did not want to be a singer when I was a little girl. As I got older it just happened. I admire African-American singers and their powerful voices. It is really hard to say exactly what influenced me as a musician and I feel that any type of music is an influence to me. Probably my first influences were bands like Genesis, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, AC-DC, Madonna and traditional Italian music. I started to listen to more metal in my 20s and listened to a lot of 1980s music such as dance music.

I started singing professionally as a touring musician for other bands and provided backing vocals when I was 19. Few years later, I met the male vocalist Andrea Ferro and bass player Marco Coti Zelati and joined their band called Ethereal, and later on we changed the band name to Lacuna Coil, that is a combination of an Italian and English word which means “empty spiral”. And now Lacuna Coil is probably the best band in this category of music.

If you get a chance which musical era do you want to go back to, 1970s or 1980s classic rock?

I would prefer the 80s era , classic rock and dance music . I like listening to all types of music, R&B to heavy metal .

Tell us about Lacuna Coil.

Lacuna Coil metal band is from Italy, with lot of progressive and gothic elements. After we are signed by Century Media record label we started out as an International band. Our first self-titled EP through Century Media in 1998 and right after that we started touring different countries with ‘Moonspell', ‘Anthrax', ‘Type O Negative'. Immediately we had a lot of shows in Europe and America and this has helped us in creating an identity internationally. Within a few years, we have established as the most popular band in this genre of music with the support of our fans worldwide. And we believe we are one of the pioneers of Gothic metal genre.

What do you say about underground music scenario?

I do not know much about the underground music scene in Italy as we travel a lot to different countries and after the tour we get busy in studio. But there are many underground bands which will have to struggle to become successful in a larger way.

What is your suggestion to upcoming musicians?

Believe in your music and in your talent and take it to the next step.
