Movie: Bad Teacher

Cast: Cameron Diaz, Justin Timber Lake, Jason Segal, Lucy Punch

“Bad Teacher” is about Elizabeth Hesley (Cameron Diaz) who is lazy, shallow, laid back and is a teacher; well, if that scares you, she works in a school temporarily and is all set to marry her rich fiancée who dumps her when he comes to know she is not worth it.

So, she goes back to school which she hates. But then enters Scott Delacorte (Justin Timberlake), the new substitute teacher, who is rich, cute and smart and is pursued by our leading lady but he falls for Amy Squirrel (Lucy Punch) the irritating, over-engrossed good teacher who identifies Elizabeth's evil ways but fails to prove her intentions.

Then there is Russel Gettis (Jason Segal), the over weight gym teacher, who pursues our heroine but is snapped at every time. And you can pretty much guess what happens next.

Performances

Cameron Diaz has always shone in gross-out comedies. Her laid back attitude wins us over and she makes her character seem extremely realistic. She steals, smokes and screens movies to her students and misuses everything. In the end, she even goes to the extent of cheating to win the reward.

Well, at least it was not like the students saw movies the whole year and passed out with flying colours by studying at the last minute. The kids are great too with their own share of puppy love and heart breaks.

Justin Timberlake, apart from playing pretty, hasn't got much to do. It's Jason Segal who is really good. His timing is perfect and has a great chemistry with our heroine.

Bottomline: Good movie but could have been great. Satirical take on the educational system with potty-mouthed comedies. Worth a watch.
