Movie: Oru Kal Oru Kannadi

“Oru Kal Oru Kannadi” (OKOK) is the third flick of one of the very few directors who can handle the humour quotient perfectly; humour that actually makes the audience burst out in laughter. Though Santhanam is the one who is responsible for it, without Rajesh, it could have just been plain dull. OKOK does have the wit but the problem is that everything seems to be same old.
Similar story
Search further and one cannot find a proper storyline. The bottomline is that the central theme of the story turns out to be the same as his previous two flicks. An ordinary hero loves a rich girl despite a number of roadblocks. You can also find many scenes and characters that are repeated. If Rajesh thinks this is his signature, he is wrong. After some time, it just becomes annoying.
Both the male and female leads lack in basic acting skills. They don't know to dance, speak, let alone act. In some places, even their walk looks pesky. Though Udhayanidhi is not a veteran, Rajesh has tried to draw out the best from him.
The true hero of the movie is, of course, Santhanam. Every review that you read about OKOK will have a separate paragraph or two dedicated only for Santhanam. His mere presence makes the audience go gaga. With his usual drollness, hilarious English accent and the Iyer aathu baashai, he completely takes control of the audience. In the supporting roles, National Award-winner Saranya is the only one worth mentioning.
Pros and Cons
Some songs seemed to be out-of-sync, but the usual Harris magic compensates for them. Visuals of the chart busters Venam Machan and Kaathal Oru Butterfly do justice to the audio. Others are just added to make the movie run long enough.
One of the major weaknesses is the editing. After decent works in SMS and BEB, Vivek Harshan should have done a better job as the film lacks a decent story.
Though major portions of the movie seem just okay; it turns out to be a hilarious entertainer merely because of Santhanam's presence.
Bottomline: It's ok! If only Santhanam appeared in more scenes

The whole review, and other comments from readers are highly biased and their writings reveal that they unnecessarily drag politics into an area of entertainment. I don't know why they fail to notice the talent portrayed by Udayanithi. Because he is the son of M K Stalin we should not criticize his acting or completely ignore he is the hero of the film who has done fairly well throughout the movie. One should not overpraise the acting of Santhanam because he just supports the hero in the movie without whose company the comedy scenes would have been unworthy and in vain. The success of the movie no doubt goes to the captain of the ship Rajesh. Entertainment is the salient feature of OKAYOKAY, and the Hindu readers, true to the DAILY's characteristic quality since its inception, should try to be neutral in their reviews.

this hero does not match this heroine
I can't agree that visual of venam machan song do justice to audio. Santhanam's sudden appearance with moustache in that song breaks basic logic but that is not the only odd thing.
Director seems to be with idea like whatever he makes will succeed. Movie has not much contents to see as his previous movies.
Through TV ads and hypes they pull people to theatres and let them disappoint, bored and steal their money.
What is SMS and BEB? Writer should improve his writing skills!
I should say this. This film is missing everything, i dont agree that
this is a comedy film at all. I just laughed probably 2 times in the
whole movie. Believe me i couldnt watch this movie for more than 30
mins.
