I am 26 years old. I fell in love with a woman four years ago while I was doing my MSc. But I left her soon after as she had too many boyfriends though she was married. There are many who speak ill about her, but I don’t think she is affected by this. She still talks to everyone through Facebook chat or Whatsapp, be it night or day. When we were dating, I had once asked her why she spoke to so many guys, and she said it was casual and they were just her friends. She said she was not in love with me and that she would change for her husband. I loved her a lot and also tried to make her understand my feelings. I even slashed my wrist and still she wasn’t moved. I am very hurt. Please help.

In pain

Let it go. She has made it very clear that she’s not interested. If you think it won’t be possible for you to just be friends, stop talking to her altogether. Also, I can’t believe I have to say this, but those of you who are injuring yourselves as a declaration of love, and those of you who are encouraging this behaviour, stop it immediately. It’s not romantic, it’s idiotic. If you really want bloodshed involved, go to a blood bank and make a donation in your loved one’s name. Helping other people is a much more heroic gesture than chopping up various parts of your body.
