Demons, Halflings, Knights – the perfect setting for a teenage drama series.
Ever started reading a book and felt this is not for me? That’s how Cracked was for me. I often found myself throwing the book in a corner and not wanting to read it.
It just didn’t appeal to the rather slightly grown up in me. But, I have a pet peeve, I hate leaving books half read. So, I read it few pages at a time. What seemed like a never-ending teenage saga drastically picked up pace and went from teen drama to action fantasy, finally something to keep going.
The story revolves around Andromeda aka Meda — a supernatural half-human half-demon ghost, seeing being, who eats souls to survive. On one of her quests to seek revenge for a ghost, she falls prey to a pack of demons. All along was she led to believe that she was one of a kind, and no one like her exists! Right when she believed all hope was lost, that her end was near she is rescued by three Templar knights chi, Jo and Uri. They believe that Meda is a beacon, a do-gooder and that the demons were out to get her. Realising she can never tell them that about her true self, Meda pretends to be a helpless girl in the hope of finding more about her supernatural abilities. She plays along hiding among the templars, but what she finds out rocks her world, and soon she finds herself being hunted down by demons and fleeing with a teenage boy with a hero complex, the clever girl who doesn’t trust easy and a fighter who believes she is good.
The book drags for most parts but when it does pick up pace it keeps the reader engrossed. Summing up, I would have enjoyed reading this book had I been a young naïve teen.
