To wear or not to wear? It's a dilemma you face every morning as you race against the ticking clock to find something in your closet that's not crumpled, crushed or stained, cursing yourself for not having set out your clothes the night before. But this same cycle repeats itself every morning.

Well, fear not, for the 5-minute fix up is here. This tiny little checklist will serve as your guide to looking good on those days when things just don't seem to be going your way.

Fit and fine

Denim is a girl's best friend. The one must-have in your closet is a pair of blue jeans that fit well at the waist, hips and thighs. Don't waste your money on those one-size-too-small jeans that you think look just gorgeous and hope will fit you in a few months. Instead, splurge on a pair that is just right. Getting a darker shade of blue would be best, because they not only have a slimming effect, but also match most t-shirts and kurtis .

Safe bet

Everyone has that half-cute-half-funny t-shirt in their closet that they absolutely adore. Whether you're the type who likes “Peace” tees with huge smiley faces on it, or tees with a knife plunging through a heart, your favourite shirt will help you get through those mornings when the universe seems bent on making you late.

Quick tip: Wearing a graphic t-shirt in a solid colour with just a single image on it usually works best for most body types. Try not to go too heavy on prints!

Happy feet

Having a pair of great black flip-flops or sandals helps because it's something that you can swipe on quickly when you're in a rush. Plus, the dark colour ensures that it won't stain easily and will (hopefully) last for a long time. If you're going to a hangout, wear flip-flops, but if it's a more formal occasion, try a close-toed pair of flats.

Got extra time?

Now that you're dressed to face any challenges that may come your way, and you realise that you happen to have a few extra moments before you have to step out of the door, take the time to tie your hair in a loose ponytail (or maybe just run a brush through it and let it down) and swipe on some yummy fruit-flavoured lip balm. Watch out, world, you're ready to shine!
