Movie: Don 2: The King is Back

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani, Kunal Kapoor

The King is back with more style and elegance. And that's what the movie “Don 2” is made of. Right from the first to the last frame, director Farhan Akhtar has made sure the movie does not lack in grace and magnificence.

Plot

“Don 2” has all that you expect and Shah Rukh Khan has shown it again that he's the right man to be the Baadshah .

In the movie, that's set in Europe, the Don plans a heist along with his old rival Vardhaan played by Boman Irani, who reprises his role from the previous film. Apart from these two, the team comprising Sameer, a hacker (Kunal Kapoor), Don's girlfriend Ayesha (Lara Dutta) and a few others are also in on the plan.

Do they succeed or do officers Roma (Priyanka Chopra) and Malik (Om Puri) ruin their plans is what form the crux of the movie.

Highs and lows

SRK, as usual, walks around in suits for the most part and speaks a lot of punch lines referring to himself as a third person.

The classic line of Don Ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahin, Namumkin Bhi Hai , is the highlight. The punch lines work in these kinds of movies but you do get a feeling that they are overdoing it.

Being a sequel you got to retain the same characters and the same actors. That's the case with this movie too, except it does not have Arjun Rampaul. To fill in the void, Kunal Kapoor is brought in with a character tailor-made for him — a hacker.

Lara Dutta shakes her leg well for a song. Priyanka Chopra being the lead girl knows exactly what to do and does it well.

What is a “Don” movie without a car chase, for the Don is always on the run from the hands of the cops. Hence, a very gripping car chase with lot of drifts and skids along with a few explosions and hostages complete the movie.

The script is not as impressive as its prequel. It appears to be a plot which was framed just for the sake of making a sequel.

Bottomline: If you are a SRK fan or of the “Don”, you will be entertained by the movie. If not, then this is not the movie for you.
