Days spent making models, carving wood, moulding clay, crafting replicas of historical monuments, experimenting with waste materials, working on installations, wall murals, mobile and stationary sculptures galore, culminated into an exhibition at Lalit Kala Akademi. Faces, both familiar and unfamiliar, students and artists, turned up. The final day of the exhibition had the highest turn-out, and renowned architect Sanjay Mohe put up a presentation on his philosophies and work.

WHAT: Leadership Summit

@ Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School

High schoolers were all geared up for the second Sankara Student Leadership Summit (SSLS). This year’s theme “Discover”, envisioned by A. K. Parameswaran, an alumni of the school, was all about motivating students to “learn and leverage our rich heritage”.

Eminent speakers such as dancer Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam , Prof. Raghuram Bhattacharyar and Bhaskara Bharathi spoke about the wonder that was Indian culture and dismissed the miming of the western world as a passing fad. Dr. Latha Sathish spoke of finding your inner self through the practice of Yoga.

Theatre artist “Crazy” Mohan managed to take the audience on a humorous journey through his life and the typical south Indian lifestyle he grew up in, while actor T.M. Karthik managed to send the audience into fits of laughter with his anecdotes.

The other speakers were Dr. K.S. Viswanatha Sarma, one of the leading proponents of Ayurveda, and renowned ecologist Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail.

The general conclusion amongst them was that the SSLS provided what most lectures and seminars failed to provide — a casual atmosphere and an interactive session with experts from various fields.
