I once had a Great Dane pup. We brought him up with great care and love, but he soon died of jaundice. Unable to cope up with his absence, I lost interest in getting another pet. Then, one day, I saw a stray dog at a bakery. I bought a bun and fed it. He followed me home. Soon, he started hanging around our house and made friends with my family. But there were people in the neighbourhood who ill-treated him by pelting stones or throwing water over him when he was sleeping.
Life is miserable for stray dogs. They are beaten by strangers and driven away. What they need is a friendly touch, a home and some food. They will show us what love is. I have realised that they are easy to bring up as they are in their natural habitat. I decided to adopt a stray dog. I had to wait for my family’s approval but I stuck to my decision. Everyone eventually agreed. We vaccinated him and brought him home. He is no more a stray dog. He is our Mr. Brown.
Many stray dogs struggle every day to survive. Why not adopt one today?
