Those seeking a quick yet hearty meal have reasons to celebrate with Muffin Tree, a comfy deli and pastry shop. Decorated in bright and attractive colours of orange and green, the sitting area is as cosy as it is warm and welcoming. Chairs are decorated in the same colours of orange and green, and guests as well as outside customers can feast their eyes, and mouths, on the delectable array of cakes and chocolates.
Quick bites
But those seeking a healthier meal can also choose from wraps, salads, and the “Make your own Sandwiches” counter. On display are a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian fillings and spreads, as well as imported cheeses and drinks that include premium juices along with water such as Perrier and Qua, to name a couple. Also of equal variety are the types of bread (14 to be exact!); a few examples are Foccacia, Multi-grain, and Paninni. I decided to give the Sandwiches counter a try, and though slightly full, I couldn’t resist and ordered a sandwich consisting of bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese, mayo and Foccacia bread. Delivered to me in two neat portions with chips, I must say the meal, though a bit oily, was as good as its arrangement. At the “Make your own Sandwiches” counter, a vegetarian sandwich costs Rs 225 plus. taxes and a non-veg one, Rs. 250 plus taxes.
Desserts at Muffin Tree start at Rs. 65 plus taxes per pastry, and there is a great variety to choose from. The Chocolate Doom, Tiramisu, and brownie are just a few examples. With cakes, the options are just as abundant, and eggless cakes can also be made. Muffin Tree also makes cakes for special occasions like birthdays.
From hotel guests to outside customers, Muffin Tree is great for those seeking a “grab and go” service. But with its quiet atmosphere, one could come in for a relaxed meal too.
Muffin Tree, located inside the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Anna Salai, Teynampet, Chennai, is open 7 days a week, with the “Make your own Sandwiches” counter open from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
