The Hindu presents a chance for readers to win passes for Navotsavam!

November 03, 2015 08:52 pm | Updated 09:22 pm IST

Pianist Anil Srinivasan is known for his interesting musical collaborations. He’s doing one such this Friday at Navotsavam, the ongoing festival presented by SS International Live.

On stage with him will be filmmaker Gautham Menon and lyricist Madhan Karky and the trio will present a ‘music-filled chat show’. “Why should musicians collaborate only with other musicians on stage?” argues Anil, “Cinema is the best example of collaboration, where you have several minds creating. With this effort, we’re giving audiences a peek into how music is actually made.”

The evening will have a theme — on how romance has been showcased through the ages. “While Gautham will talk about it from a visual perspective, discussing his favourite songs and composers, Karky will bring in a lyrical point of view… all this, interspersed with lots of music,” adds the pianist.

The two-hour programme will also include an entire piano segment devoted to M.S. Viswanathan. One of the highlights will be Gautham Menon singing live on stage. “I’m excited and nervous; they’re both big names in their own right,” says Anil, whose album Touch released recently. “They immediately agreed to this concept because it is all about presenting different perspectives of music.”

Tickets are available at 73, 5th Street, Luz Avenue, Mylapore (Near Nageswara Rao Park), at Music Academy between (10 a.m. and 6 p.m.); call 72999 66666/2499 4420; and through www.eventjini.com, www.bookmyshow.com.
