Chikki Mukki

What it is about…

A doctor working in Malaysia comes to Tamil Nadu in search of a bride and marries a young girl. He faces various problems on his return. Whether he is able to overcome them forms the crux of Chikki Mukki , produced by R. Senthil Kumar and directed by Sriskandaraja, who has also written the story and screenplay. The film features Hidesh and Disha Pandey in the lead. Gautham has scored the music. The audio of the film was released by the children of an orphanage called ‘Nesam’ and received by the producers in the presence of the unit members.

Music highlights

The album consists of four songs of which three have been penned by Theraviyam and one ‘Adi Aathi Anantha Minnal’ by Elayakamban. The melodious ‘Adi Aathi’, sung by Sri Varshini and Anish, is is a blend of seven ragas, including Reethigowla and Sindhubhairavi. ‘Onnu Onna’ is a beautiful duet by Naveen Madhavan and Charulatha Mani. ‘Puvellam,’ sung by V. V. Prasanna and Ramya, comes next. ‘Kitta Kitta Variya,’ sung by Prasanna and Vinitha, appeals with its folksy feel.

What they say…

Producer R. Senthil Kumar: I have been in the industry for over 15 years. Starting as a driver, I gradually climbed the ladder. When I was working for director Sriskandaraja, we became good friends. He would discuss stories with me. That’s how I got attracted to this project.

Director Sriskandaraja: I have produced two films — Ennamo Pudichirukku and Ezhudiyathu Aaradi — and directed more than half a dozen ad films. When I met Senthil Kumar, I realised he knew the intricacies of film production. Once we decided on the budget, we started work. We have finished the film now and I feel it will work wonders for us at the box office.

Hero Hidesh:Chikki Mukki is my second film, after Thalakonam . I was delighted when I got the chance to play the lead in it. The director has come up with an unusual screenplay and I hope Chikki Mukki proves to be a big break for me in the Tamil film industry.

Music director Gautham: I am from Kochi, Kerala. I have composed for four Malayalam films and working on four more. I have scored the title songs for a number of serials in Tamil and Malayalam and the music for half a dozen documentaries. Chikki Mukki is my first venture in Tamil.
