Politics mixed with love

Zee Kannada is launching a new serial Mahanadi . It promises to be a love story set against the backdrop of politics in small town Narayanapura. The postman’s daughter flips for the MLA while trying to fix him up as an alliance for her sister! The story of how the sisters get embroiled inadvertently in politics and stand up against society, forms the core of this serial, being pitted as yet another one to look at women’s issues as well. This one comes from the stables of popular serial director Shruti Naidu, who’s made serials like Shrirastu Shubhamastu , Mahadevi . The serial features Nagakiran, Keerthi Raj, Bhavana Belegere and others. The serial premiers on July 4 at 7 p.m.

The Gods descend

Star-Suvarna channel is all set to launch Har Har Mahadev , a mythological series that boasts first-of-its kind scale and visual effects in the Kannada television history. Right now in the news also for being one of the biggest budgets for a Kannada serial at Rs. 60 crore, the serial’s trailer is creating quite a buzz on TV.

North Karnataka flavour

Popular director Sunil Puranik has launched yet another serial Mahasati on Udaya TV. The family drama features actors from North Karnataka including theatre person Yeshwant Sardeshpande, and has been shot in the region as well. Some big names have been roped in as well – Yograj Bhatt has written the title song for the serial for which Raghu Dixit has composed the music. Puranik, who also acts in the serial, hails from Dharwad and says this project is close to his heart because it’s based around his hometown; most of it has been shot in and around Bailhongal. It is based on a true-life story of a young woman whose husband dies on the day of their wedding, and from there begin her battle with society. The serial, which premiered this Monday is aired every day at 6 p.m.
