We have been dangerously close to an elephant herd at Top Slip. A tiger barred our way as we drove from Thengumarahada.
Ten years ago, I eagerly looked forward to the launch of Metro Plus. For me as a photographer, it meant bigger pictures, that too in colour, a rarity those days. I could never imagine then the kind of diverse opportunities that MetroPlus would offer me. Every assignment was a learning experience. We shot pictures of film heroes and heroines when they stopped by. We later perfected the art of people photography and portraiture with the launch of the Weekend Metro Plus. We tasted food photography, a niche area, for the reviews that appeared in MetroPlus. There was ample opportunity for standalone photos, too. Lensview had a long and successful run in Coimbatore edition.
Travel and wildlife photography opportunities took off as we crisscrossed the Nilgiris. It took us to places such as Kinnakorai, a tea growing Badaga village at the tip of Nilgiris on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border to the vegetable growing Ebbanad. The cameras clicked the mist-filled Valparai and the pristine Grass Hills. Strawberries at Beaulah Farms, Rosemary at Tamarakkarai and Lemon grass and cheese making at Coonoor, there was so much to see and record with the camera. It has been an exciting decade.
