Upendra’s Kalpana 2 this weekend
A big weekend coming up for Uppi Dada fans. Kalpana 2 releases this Friday. A remake of Tamil film franchise Kanchana 2 , this horror-comedy is directed by R. Anantha Raju. This one is a sequel to Kalpana that hit theatres in 2012. The film features Upendra, Priyamani and Avanthika Shetty in the lead roles. The musical score is by Arjun Janya. Raghava Lawrence, Nithya Menen, and Tapsee Pannu had played the roles in the original.
Where Uppi Dada is, so are his crazy songs. The opening title track is a patriotic song with Upendra seen among a mass of people dressed in the colours of the national flag. It is for the fourth time Upendra and Puneeth Rajakumar have recorded a song together. Their first joint venture was when power star Puneeth Rajakumar delivered a song ‘Taliban Alla Alla...’ written by super star Upendra for his debut film Appu .
Another song, written by Kaviraj, will tip the hat at Uppi Dada’s previous films and feature nearly 20 of his film titles -- among them A, H2O, Super, Buddhivanta and Kutumba, and has been sung by Upendra himself.

New kid on the block
With Shivarajkumar announcing a slew of his new films, here’s one family drama you can quite look forward to – Leader . The film will launch child actor Parinitha. The young bubbly lady is Sandalwood actor Srinagara Kitty and actress-TV host Bhavana Belagere’s daughter.
Buzz is that the film hinges on the father-daughter relationship between Shivanna and Parinitha. Coming from a filmi family, all eyes are going to be on little Parinitha. Back in 1998, Shivanna had acted in Andaman , a film that had his real-life daughter Niveditha play the role on screen too, and which brought her the state film award for best child actor.
Leader is to be produced by Tarun Shivappa and directed by Sahana Murthy -- both teamies on the film Rose – who are coming together again for the second time. Vamsi Krishna the actor who’s made a name in both Tamil and Telugu films is all set to make his entry into Sandalwood in this film. Filming begins in August, with shoots planned in Kashmir and Leh.

Bhandari brothers’ next
After his debut film Rangi Taranga created history by running continuously in multiplexes for a whole year, director Anup Bhandari announced his second film in celebration. Despite having offers to remake Rangi Taranga in Hindi, Anup Bhandari refused, because he didn’t want to do the same film all over again!
Titled Rajaratha , this romantic comedy will again star his brother Nirup Bhandari along with Avanthika Shetty. The announcement came quite dramatically this weekend from Crazy Star Ravichandran and Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla on the television reality show Dancing Stars 3 .
Anup Bhandari himself has written the lyrics and composed the music for this one, while B. Ajaneesh Loknath has scored the original background music for it. Bhandari got buzzing in June itself doing the song scratches. The Bhandari brothers are currently busy with the shoot of Rajaratha which began on July 12 in Ooty.
