Great styles For men and women

Jayanti Bhattacharya and her husband Zeshan Rahaman sound like excited children. Each wants to be the first to speak about their line of designs in the men and women’s category. They are the brains behind the city’s latest leather boutique called The Leather Boutique (TLB).

“It’s very rare that the people focus on a men’s range. There is a preconceived notion that when it comes to boutiques, there are designs only for women. But we want to change that,” starts Zeshan and insists that he speak first about the men’s range. He brings around all kinds of leather bags — travel, sports, gym.

It’s all in the family

“We have been in this family business of procuring leather for 25 years. But we started the boutique in May 2012 as we found a gap in the Indian market. We had high end or low end leather products. The former could not be afforded by many, and the latter offered no style. The aim of TLB is to offer affordable leather in stylish designs to fill in the niche market between the two,” beams Zeshan.

Designs are by the in-house designer Gauri Spratt (for the women’s line), and a group of select designers from India and abroad for the men’s line. There are jackets that start at Rs. 6,000. They are made of European leather – called the nappa – “which is extremely soft and is a lot thinner and can be worn in the Indian climate. They are designed in such a way that you can wear it to keep warm or even team it up with party wear,” says Zeshan.

Men can choose from a range of designer belts and wallets. The former come in designs with metal, embossing, and prints. Some even have thread embroidery.

The bags start at Rs. 7,000. TLB also offers you office folders for Rs. 2,500, passport holders for Rs. 2,200 and travel wallets for Rs. 1,750.

The women’s range comes in bright hues – yellow, lime green, fuschia, navy and so on. The women’s range also offers wallets, evening bags and office bags, day bags and work bags. These bags, he adds, also come with a compartment at the bottom for shoes. There are also office and business bags, designed not just to carry a laptop but are inspired by western designs so that you can carry your files too.

Besides these, the boutique also offers some great jewellery designs in leather, which start at Rs. 300. There are earrings, chains, leather cuffs, pendants and so on, which can be gifted or even occupy space in your own collection.

If you are looking for gifts then you can choose from their accessories like wine and champagne holders and hip flasks for Rs. 1,800 and above.

The Leather Boutique is at # 965, 1st Floor, 12th Main, Indiranagar. You can also visit www.Theleatherboutique.in for details.
