Director of Gundello Godari and Joru , Kumar Nagendra has remade last year’s Tamil film Maan Karate starring Sivakarthikeyan as Tuntari in Telugu which is releasing this week. Nara Rohit is reprising Sivakarthikeyan’s role of a boxer. Tuntari “The title, based on the hero’s personality has nothing to do with the story. Tuntari character enters at one point only to take the story forward. With a little bit of fantasy thrown in, the story is about getting the future known now.

The story by Murugadoss, who’s also the producer might help draw audiences. I bought the rights and made several changes. The film released in 2015 is a city-based story that revolves around five youth who strongly believe in destiny,” says the director. They get hold of a newspaper that is to come after four months. They attempt to cash in on it. The director adds, “There’s a bit of suspense, and you are not sure whether that will happen or not. There could be a negative news such as an accident or some matter related to corruption. The destiny is printed in the paper. Though it is confirmed, the character will win eventually, the rest of the story is about the trials and tribulation.”

The character played by the hero is Raju, he is about to win 5 crore in a boxing championship. Since Raju doesn’t know that he will win, the others try to manipulate and cash in on his situation. Raju, is not a boxer actually, the youth plan to make an agreement in advance and snatch the deal. They get to know a bit later that he is not the Raju they were looking for.

The 120-minute long film has been shot in Chikmagalur. The director recollects, “The hill station was superb in July, it was shot in Mangalore as well. This is Lata Hegde’s first film. In the story she hails from Visakhapatanam and loves sports. She falls for the hero who fakes he that is a boxer to impress her but finally decides to risk his life in the boxing ring for love.”
