Super Six is a show of six women artists showcasing their work at Muse art gallery, to celebrate International Women’s Day. The show, in association with U.S. Consulate, Hyderabad, is titled Super Six Art: Of The Women, For The Women, By the Women and the participating artists are Anjani Reddy, L. Saraswathi, Priti Samyukta, Sravanthi Juluri, Janaki Injety and Rangoli Garg.
On display are a riot of colours and moods with each artist showing her best canvas that depict women and their nature. Sravanthi Juluri’s work is all about emotion and she equates emotion with energy. In her abstracts she compares women to Goddess Kali and other goddesses and their energies. “My paintings depict the way women fight the world despite being confined to corners with various societal norms.”
Rangoli’s works are outwardly feminine and she sticks to her signature style of depicting many shades of women. Her canvases tell many stories. The eyes of her women speak to the onlooker and lets them imagine a story of their own and against Sravanti’s energy-filled canvases, they make a good story.
Saraswati’s work is all about love; love of God and Radha and Krishna. Her muted colours reach out as a balm in a world of conflicts. She feels women are an epitome of love and patience and that’s what she depicts honestly. Her work is influenced by mythology.
Priti Samyukta’s work is a blend of the nature of women and the complex duties they perform. She doesn’t just celebrate womanhood, but pays an ode to their energies and multitasking nature. Her figurines are unique and can burst with colours or could tell a 1000 words in black and white.
