The author of Few Things Left Unsaid, Sudeep Nagarkar, recently made his first trip to Chennai for the launch of his latest novel — You Are The Password To My Life . Starmark bookstore at Express Avenue crowded with youth, the numbers large enough to surprise even Sudeep. The reading opened with the official unveiling of the novel. “I want the novel to redefine love and friendship. Most importantly, I want readers to take away positive messages from it at the end.” Sudeep said that the novel stems from many real-life incidents that have served as his inspiration. He spoke of having learnt much from the emotional ups and downs of life. One of Sudeep’s fans, Pooja, who said she has read almost every novel by the author, to date, spoke at the event, saying that she loved Sudeep’s books because, besides the engaging plot, they provoked her to look at life in a different manner.
For Sudeep, a book clicks when he has the “S factor” right. “I always weave the story together around the suspense that I can create. I am also not a great fan of stereotyping either plots or characters, so there is no obvious theme in my novels,” he says. Each story expresses different emotions in different forms. Sudeep added that building a character is something he concentrated on considerably. “Readers connect most with the book, when they can relate their own lives to the characters’ lives.” One of Sudeep’s novels is soon set to be adapted into a film, but the author refused to reveal which one it was. He added that he would be delighted if all his novels were someday made into films. At the launch’s close, fans rushed to Sudeep for autographs and selfies, and he obliged each one. Sudeep even identified names and faces, recalling them from his social media interactions, and called his fans,‘family’. “So, who is the password to your life, Sudeep?” asked an enthusiastic fan. “My parents,” he replied, adding that he would someday like to pen a novel based on “this side of the country”.
