Grandma’s recipe: Capsicum Gojju

Hotchpotch of flavours: spicy, sweet and tangy

Capsicum Gojju is a traditional recipe from Karnataka. Serve it alongside chapathi, roti or dosa for a delicious repast.

What you need (Serves 4):

Oil: Eight Tsp

Onion and tomato: One each

Capsicums: Two

Green chilli: One

Rasam Powder: Two Tsp

Mustard: One Tsp

Jaggery: Two Tsp

Turmeric powder: Half Tsp

Curry leaves: Two sprigs

Tamarind water: One cap full

Coriander: For garnish

Salt: To taste

Cooking Instructions:

Heat oil in a kadai. Splutter mustard seeds. Sauté green chillies, onion and curry leaves. When onions turn light brown, add turmeric powder and salt. Then, add diced capsicums and fry well. Add tomato, rasam powder and cook on sim. Empty tamarind water and jaggery into the pan and allow the gravy to thicken for five minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.
